Frauscher Axle Counter. Argenia has designed interfaces for the Frauscher line of axle counter products. These sensors are widely used and certified by most railways. They feature a robust adjustable mounting rail claw and a simple interface. The sensors run on a current loop of 5mA and cable runs to the sensors can be up to 10 miles long.
The Argenia SilverHawk Controller operates four RSR110 Frauscher sensors. For higher sensor counts, the Argenia SilverFox Concentrator will handle 10 sensors. Each controller provide a data stream over a variety of media, for connection to an evaluator such as SilverHawk, or a PC or other field equipment. .
Each sensor head contains 2 sensor coils, and uses a 4 wire interface. In a yard application, 4 wires are used for each sensor.
In contrast, the Argenia axle counter uses a digital RS485 interface, and uses a 4 wire bus which can connect up to 32 sensors on one cable.
